What do traders carry will

Now the big question is, what will the Japanese traders do when they get to work on Monday? Did you see last Friday's happenings in the forex market? If not, open your charts of EUR/JPY and USD/JPY. Both pairs initally fell upon China's announcement, but later on in the US session, big players sold the Yen again, almost erasing the losses suffered by both pairs. Will they see the widened USD/CNY band as a sign that the Yen will be pressured on the upside, and...

I was expecting it to happen - the liquidation of carry trades. EUR/JPY fell by 100 pips within 30 minutes of this announcement, while USD/JPY... EUR/JPY, USD/JPY, GBP/JPY, CAD/JPY all plunged sharply in response to that. The Japanese Yen has rallied strongly against the US dollar and the Euro after China officially announces a widening of the USD/CNY trading band to 0.5% from 0.3% - above and below its central parity rate, effective next Monday.

I have been trading and monitoring forex almost nonstop for the past 24 hours, with most other activities taking a backseat. This is pretty unusual for me; normally I do not have so many trades within a day, but price actions in the market have been very exciting both yesterday and today which provided many trading opportunities. With all the price moves, I was able to trade both bounces and breakouts in a very short period of time, something that is...
Finally I could take a breather.

US industrial production rose... Today, the USD has almost completely erased those losses, swinging from one end to the other. Players with very deep pockets ran stop orders, causing the US dollar to plunge sharply, especially versus Euro and Swiss Franc. Yesterday just when I thought the forex market was going to be quiet, it was anything but. Although market sentiment on the greenback has been bearish lately, today's economic data has propped it up.

However, the core CPI, which excludes volatile food and energy prices, increased 0.2%, in line with market's expectations (0.1% in March). If you look at the core CPI y/y, it was up 2.3% compared to a year ago, down 0.2 percentage point from March, and...
The US dollar has slipped against other currencies after the release of the US consumer price index. The consumer price index rose just 0.4% (0.5% expected) in April, compared to March's 0.6% increase.
Vacation Condos

Once the weather breaks, it’s tough to put aside thoughts of that dream vacation. So with the windows flung wide open and the ceiling fan running full blast, I checked out USCondex, a massive web resource for vacation condos and residential condos alike. While the goal of owning a standalone vacation home remains illusive for most folks, vacation condos open up a whole new world of possibilities for both relaxation and revenue.
USCondex bills itself as “The World’s Largest Condo Marketplace” … and I’m not one to quibble. After my fill of the dry heat, I took a side trip to Costa Rica where I took in some lovely units, keeping in mind that architectural renderings, rather than actual photographs, are often par for the course on the website.
A jump across the Atlantic first took me to Tuscany where I found a couple of interesting monthly rentals, one rustic and the other affordable. Today was one of those days. With over 300,000 condos available in the United States, Canada, Latin America, Europe, Asia Pacific, and the Middle East/Africa, that US prefix might make the site seem less than worldly. Then it was off to Barcelona where the choices were limited but the price tags were as high as the humidity. Looking for the vacation condo of my dreams, I zoomed from the Metropolis in Las Vegas (located conveniently a couple of blocks off the Strip and across from the old Desert Inn golf course) to Bella Terra at Paradise Valley in Scottsdale. You’re not alone. Looking for the ultimate vacation condo? I came back to Earth to check out some affordable vacation condos in Florida and South Carolina, where there are still places that aren’t all that far out of reach for the average geek.

Digital Prints Those The Dues For Paying

Unlike most teenagers, my daughter is gaining an appreciation for the ease of this digital era. But I’m ever so thankful that our kids still have the opportunity to learn the the craft with those traditional tools, while they’re still available …

Come to think of it, the mere thought of a roll of film is quaint. She’s taking an introductory course in traditional photography, and is learning how to develop black and white photographs the old-fashioned way …
My girl’s learning how to compose a photograph without a throwaway mentality. That’s a good thing, in my book. Knowing that each and every shot matters can make you work harder to get a great shot. It’s getting hard to to remember those bad old days … back when we had to pay to develop and print each and every photograph on a roll of film. (A roll of what?) The ability to print only the best images is perhaps the most appealing aspect of the digital photo revolution. Take away the auto focus, auto exposure, and need to wind film and you can really hone in on what makes a winning image.
All in all, it’s never been less expensive to explore this fantastic hobby. Speaking of which, some of my daughter’s traditional prints come home looking like they’ve already had a raft of Photoshop filters applied to them … crazy effects that would be tough to duplicate, whether by traditional or digital means.
I never want to go back the old ways and I doubt we ever will. While the cost of digital prints fell dramatically last year, the market seems to have stabilized … unlike those pesky chemicals in the developing trays.
